Reconcile Receipts in Minutes, Not Hours

How to parse text by describing what you want.

Irene runs a clothing business, and sells online through several different marketplaces (Amazon, TikTok, etc.). At the end of each month, she would download a spreadsheet with sales from each platform, all in different formats. She would then total up sales - but simple COUNTIFS don't work when multiple pieces are sold as a package, or for certain promotions.

What she needed to do was split the text in several different ways, across spreadsheets with several different formats. Up until Pipedreamer, she would spend a few hours per month with a mix of filters, simple formulas, and counting by hand.

Totaling quantity sold for each SKU (with or without splitting by color) took about five minutes with Pipedreamer, plus ten minutes to spot check. She used two prompts:

First Prompt

"Column B has SKUs, and C has quantity sold. Format is like "DS02-CREAM", meaning type DS02 and color cream. Some as like "A01R019-TOSCA", meaning one A01-TOSCA and one R019-TOSCA. Make a new sheet that splits out each SKU into Column A, any second SKU into Column B, and quantity in column C"

Second Prompt

"Great! Now total up quantity sold of each sku (splitting by color) in columns D and E. Then do quantity of each sku (not splitting by color) in F and G"

Before - B7 has 2 SKUs sold as a package

Irene didn't have to learn anything new. No formulas to memorize, no macros to write, no complex workflows to set up. She just described what she wanted, and Pipedreamer did it. If and when things break, she just reverts the changes. Since most of this is done with formulas, it's easy to spot check.

Irene's story isn't unique. Business owners the world over spend too much time wrestling with Excel instead of doing work that actually matters. Formulas, macros, and conditional formatting are great - but most people don't use them.

Pipedreamer turns hours of manual work into a simple ask.
